French Immersion RegistrationStudents may enter Early French Immersion in either Kindergarten or Grade 1. Whether the student is entering Kindergarten or Grade 1, families register at their French Immersion catchment school. Families will find their catchment school by either visiting our website at http://www.sd61.bc.ca/pdf/fi/fi_register.pdf or by phoning 250-475-4189. Students may enter Late French Immersion in Grade 6. Late French Immersion students apply to register at their choice of school between February 1 to 5, 2010. There are no catchments for Late French Immersion. French Immersion is a District program for which registration is first come, first served. Student Transfer ProcessIf students wish to transfer to a school other than their designated school, a Student Transfer Form must be completed. This form will be available at all schools and on the District website from February 18 to February 26, 2010. For details, visit: Student Transfer Process. Note: appointments with a Principal are required, in some instances, before February 26th.
Paint the Town Red School Kit With the countdown on, RBC is excited to bring teachers and students the Paint the Town Red School Kit. This kit provides ways to get behind our team and follow the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games as a class. It includes resources to help you host a school-wide Olympic Winter Games Sports Day, create your own Let's Go Canada bulletin board and chronicle the excitement in a daily writing journal.
Always Changing Program The Always Changing Program is a school-based resource designed to help ease the transition between childhood and adolescence for boys and girls in grades 5 and 6. Students have many questions about the physical and emotional changes they go through during puberty. This free set of instructional materials will help students understand that these changes are a normal part of growing up.http://www.phecanada.ca/eng/pgschools/always_changing.cfm
