During that fundraising campaign, the monies raised that were not spent on the Primary playground were set aside for the replacement of the Intermediate Playground. At the time, the PAC decided to not pursue the immediate replacement of the second playground, fearing that parents were possibly "burnt out" by the work required to raise the capital for the first playground.

Then in the fall of 2009, half of the Intermediate playground was removed due to safety concerns; the other half of the playground is still in place but play space for the children in grades 3, 4, and 5 is now significantly smaller. It was this situation that has reignited the desire in the parent community to replace this playground.

At the General Meeting in January, 2010, a Playground Committee was struck with a mandate to select a supplier, identify a design, determine the budget and spearhead fundraising activities. For more current information, please go to the new playground site: playground.emjspac.ca
